Remember when Big Little Lies was meant to be a limited mini-series with one season and a finite story? Yeah, forget all that.
As TV Line reports, HBO has signed up for a second season of the hit show and while it has not yet been officially confirmed by the network, it looks like production will kick off in spring 2018.

Of course the show's widely positive critical reception and its eight Emmys probably played a big part in the decision to produce more episodes.
As showrunner David E. Kelley said of the project last week:
"We’re kicking around ideas and trying to lasso the talent [and] get the band back together [...] But I’m optimistic because everyone wants to do it. We feel we still have storytelling to do. No decision has been made yet, but we’re hopeful. Where we left it, I felt like it did open the opportunity for a lot more storytelling."
By 'the band' Kelley means Nicole Kidman, Reese Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley, Zoë Kravitz and Laura Dern, aka. one of the most prestigious casts of the small screen.
Even before Big Little Lies' Emmys success, author of the original story Liane Moriarty had high hopes of a second season for the adaptation. As she explained at the time, the first round of episodes actually missed out a lot of Bonnie's (Zoë Kravitz) backstory.
But of course the priority will be exploring the aftermath of the incident at the end of the first season where we left off.
